Frenchman’s Reef, The Westin Beach Resort & Spa

Project Brief

After being devastated from back-to-back Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, the Frenchman’s Reef was in need of a major renovation. The Main Building Ocean Tower (244 Guestrooms) scope included rebuilding the exterior walls, balcony doors, new roofs, new mechanical equipment, and all new guestroom and public space interiors partitions, finishes, and FF&E. The Harborview Wing (60 Guestrooms) was demolished back to structure and had to be completely rebuilt including the addition of a new elevator. The Sea Cliff Wing (80 Guestrooms) was used for temporary construction housing and then later full demolition and renovations of the interiors were completed. The Site Infrastructure included repairs to the Sea Water Reverse Osmosis system and a major rework on the Wastewater Treatment Plant and the installation of a new propane Co-Generation Power Plant to allow for the hotel to become more self-sufficient. Site landscaping and hardscaping enhancements were included throughout including the main pool, adult pool, spa pool, pickleball court, and a new dock for ocean activities. The public space interiors included ballrooms, meeting spaces, restaurants, bars, and a spa with a salon. Under new ownership led by Fortress Investment Group, Echelon Leadership assisted the CM Agent on this complex, multi-phased project.
